I love it when an irresistible project comes along. A project so compelling that I know in my gut and my heart that no matter what, I have to jump in and help make it happen. That’s how I felt about Trayc Claybrook’s PEACE PILOT, a monumental video installation of four films she made about peace, with which we enveloped an entire building. It was luscious. Trayc and an all-volunteer crew spent two years working traveling around Texas and the South filming the odyssey of an “every person” hero, who moves from a place of fear to a place of unlimited love. There are no words…the story is told all in images and sounds. It was intended to be projected on a massive scale: on monuments or buildings or natural spaces. For one night, the stunning Interfaith Peace Chapel in Dallas, Texas became a giant canvas for these moving paintings of light. It was gorgeous. I was thrilled to come on board as one of the producers of the installation, and used all my filmmaking, producing, writing and editing skills to help publicize, fund-raise, and wear any other hat Trayc tossed my way. We lit up the Chapel on 9.21.12 for International Peace Day. We are already at work on Peace Pilot 2013. Here is a quick video I edited showing the chapel on the night of the event. If you’d like to be involved with Peace Pilot, get in touch. It takes a village to make an event like this happen, and we’d love to have you on board.
