Current Productions

It's official!  Shirley Thompson Editorial has relocated to Honolulu, HI.    My email and cell phone number will remain the same and I'm still just a couple of time zones and a short plane ride away from California. I've traded my home on an island in the middle of Texas for a home on an island in the middle of the sea. Seeking new projects with good people!

I've been super excited to work with new Hawaii clients Pacific Islanders in Communication and Laird Christianson Advertising.  And I'm also stoked about a new documentary project that I am producing with my partner Stanford Chang and Evolution Media on traditional Hawaiian healing.  The film is in the research and development stage...I'll blog about it some when there's more details to share.

Screenings & Awards!

EATING ALASKA's PBS run continues through the fall after a great broadcast premiere in Seattle.  Check our FACEBOOK page for more upcoming screenings. Many of you know, this is a long-time labor of love film on which I was co-producer & story consultant with filmmaker Ellen Frankenstein. It's a PBS documentary about adventures in eating on the Alaskan frontier, searching for a meal that makes sense politically, socially, spiritually and tastefully.  See the trailer!

PIDGIN: THE VOICE OF HAWAI‘I will air again on PBS Hawaii on September 9 at 8:30 pm and 11 pm.  PIDGIN also screened at the Honolulu Film Festival and won a Grand Jury Award and an award for Best Human Rights Film.

SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES was nominated for an IMAGEN award in the Best Documentary category.
